Nay’dini’aa Na’ Kayax Nahwgholnicde (CNV Military Stories Revealed)

The Chickaloon Native Village Nay'dini'aa Na' Kayax Nahwgholnicde project was designed to further document Indigenous peoples' military contributions and the effects of war service on their lives. The project included re-housing and digitizing a collection of materials that documented the World War II military experience through the eyes of a Chickaloon Native Village Tribal citizen. The project team also recorded oral history interviews with 7 Tribal citizens who are veterans of military service, many of whom are now Elders. The oral histories were then enhanced with photographs, documents, and other materials from each interviewee. The resulting products were made accessible on the Tribe's digital archival platform, and the recordings were sent to the Library of Congress' Veterans History Project, expanding the public's ability to engage with and learn from them.
